France: In the Ligue 1 match, Lorient lost to Rennes 0:3. However, the result was relegated to the background by the tragedy that happened at the Stade Yves Allainmat stadium. Shortly after the game, a fragment of the lighting ramp used to care for the turf, fell onto the pitch and crushed the club’s employee (greenkeeper). Unfortunately, the accident victim died in the hospital.
The tragedy happened shortly after the meeting ended, when the reserve players of Rennes were still on the pitch. The medical services were quickly alerted, and after several minutes the man was taken to the hospital. Unfortunately, his life could not be saved.
For now, it is not known what caused the tragedy. The case is to be explained by the French prosecutor’s office. According to French media, a 38-year-old man orphaned three children.
